Who is responsible

Umer Farooq Enterprises Ltd, trading as ShortTermCover, is the data controller for information collected through this website. Contact us at hello@shortermcover.co.uk.

What we collect

• Details you enter to get a quote: vehicle registration, make and model, your name, date of birth, contact details, address and licence information.
• Vehicle information returned by the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service for the registration you supply.
• Payment confirmation from our payment provider. Card numbers are entered directly with the provider and never reach our systems.
• Technical information such as your IP address and browser, used to keep the service secure and working.

Why we use it

To calculate your price, arrange and issue your policy, produce your documents, handle claims and complaints, prevent fraud, and meet our legal and regulatory obligations. The legal bases are performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in running a secure service, and compliance with legal obligations.

Who we share it with

The underwriter of your policy, our payment provider, the Motor Insurance Database, fraud-prevention and claims-checking services, and regulators or authorities where the law requires. We do not sell personal information.

How long we keep it

Policy records are retained for as long as needed to handle claims and meet regulatory requirements, typically seven years after the policy ends. Quotes that are not purchased are deleted after a short period.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to certain uses, or ask for it to be transferred. Write to hello@shortermcover.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

We use only the cookies required for the site to function. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
