Terms of business

Version 1. These terms apply from the date shown on your policy documents.

Draft wording for client review. The client's compliance team must approve these terms before the site goes live.

1. Who we are

ShortTermCover is a trading name of Umer Farooq Enterprises Ltd, registered in Scotland under company number SC901073, registered office Office 608, 18 Young Street, Edinburgh EH2 4JB. We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, firm reference CLIENT_TO_CONFIRM.

2. The service we provide

We arrange short-term motor insurance policies underwritten by Dan Rothmus. We act as an intermediary on your behalf. We do not give advice or personal recommendations; the information we provide is to help you decide whether the policy meets your needs.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Answer every question honestly, accurately and completely. A careless or deliberate misrepresentation may lead to the policy being voided and a claim being refused.
  • Only drive the vehicle shown on the certificate, within the period shown, and in line with the conditions of your licence.
  • Make sure the vehicle is roadworthy and, where required, taxed and holding a valid MOT certificate.
  • Tell us straight away if any detail on your documents is wrong.

4. Payment and price

The premium is shown in full before you pay and includes Insurance Premium Tax at the standard rate. Payment is taken once, by card, through our payment provider. We do not add administration fees. Prices shown on a quote are held for 60 minutes.

5. Cancellation and cooling off

You have a right to cancel within 14 days of purchase. Because short-term cover is designed to be used straight away, a charge will apply for any period of cover already used, and no refund is due once the period of cover has ended. To cancel, contact hello@shortermcover.co.uk with your policy reference.

6. Complaints

If something has gone wrong, tell us at hello@shortermcover.co.uk and we will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within eight weeks. If you are not satisfied with our final response, you may be able to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

7. Financial Services Compensation Scheme

If the insurer cannot meet its obligations, you may be entitled to compensation under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, depending on the type of insurance and the circumstances of the claim.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland.
